Brother Nut//堅果兄弟(2015)

Brother Nut, a performance artist, spent 100 days walking around the streets of Beijing with an industrial powered vacuum cleaner sucking up the polluted air.  At the end of the 100 days, he took all the dust from the smog and condensed it to form a "pollution brick," or brick made entirely of air pollution.  Brother Nut said that the purpose of his work is to make people think about the harms of China's smog.  Residents who have to breathe the air every day would have multiple bricks in their lungs. “Dust represents the side effects of humankind’s development, including smog and building-site dust,” he explained in an interview in 2015. “When I first arrived in Beijing, I wore a hygienic mask for a few days, but later I stopped. In smog like this, there’s no escaping.”
