Cai Guo-Qiang, known for his work with fireworks, created a large-scale public firework show to celebrate the opening of his exhibit Cai Guo-Qiang: The Ninth Wave.  The show took place in three stages: Elegy, Remembrance, and Consolidation.  All the fireworks used in the show contained biodegradable colored powder.  Elegy opened the show with dark plumes of smoke that gradually faded to green, reminiscent of green grass and weeds.  Remembrance consisted of multicolored smoke streaking across the sky, arching in the air before diffusing through the fog. Consolidation brought bright bursts of color, forming yellow and white flowers in the sky, slowly filling the horizon in the finale.
