Wenda Gu's United Nations alters language in an unconventional way: every word or character is made entirely out of human hair. Wenda combines different colored and types of hair, representing mixed cultural backgrounds as well as a commonality uniting the human race.  Wenda told Words in Art that United Nations "acts as a cultural ambassador that connects one place to the other,… one country to another." Through the use of a common medium and color scheme, Wenda unites the various cultures and languages represented in the United Nations and suggests a future where all countries can exist in harmony.
